There is a previous thread on this plant but it is inaccessible. I previously complained about colour rendition in photos of this flower. Well guess what, my ultra expensive all singing all dancing ( under $160 ) field camera has come up trumps again. For such a cheap camera it is amazing the photos I can get from it. Anyway, although very late to flower due to our (UK) long cold spring the plants are now looking good. These I grow in undrained trays in a 4 tier growhouse. The front is open all year so it gets ambient temperatues, I simply control the watering.

This is again the established tray of Pinguicula grandiflora which I posted last year, in a slightly deeper tray. It sits next to the tray of Pinguicula corsica shown in that plant's thread which shows how far behind in seasonal development this species is comparatively.

Very nice Fred That has spurred me on to post some pictures of some of mine, apologies for bumping your thread Fred but it seemed better here than starting a new thread on the same subject. I am not known for my technical expertise with a camera or a computer I'm afraid.

That's a very nice colony Steve. Do you not have a problem with overheating?

Afternoon Fred
Not as yet Fred, they are all outside all year in bogs and grow quite happily in full sun at this time of year. What you can't see from the first two pictures is that they are surrounded by copious amounts of Sarracenia of various sorts, so as the season progresses and the sun gets 'hotter' the pitchers grow and the pings are effectively in dappled shade as the garden rotates around the sun, which seems to suit them fairly we'll.
I collect gemmae in spring and spread them round the bogs, they do very well, so well that what was originally three gemmae are now legion, the idea is to get the bogs carpeted wall to wall with a green slimey carpet with a shock of lovely blue flowers in spring. The Sarracenia pitchers are now starting to grow and are 4-6" high or so, (still no flowers open though unlike yours) so by the time the longest day arrives they have some protection from the higher intensity of the sunlight.
Cheers Steve
