An odd day today 8th June. It's started off cloudy with a cool wind so at 12:30pm the air temperature still hasn't caught up with the root temperatures. NB:- The air temperature is the white thermometer 2nd from the bottom right. The removal of the glass in the doors makes an amazing difference to the greenhouse temperatures, more than I thought.

19th June. Temperatures have been gradually increasing, currently it is warm and humid. Last night the root temperatures didn't fall below 20C (68F). Today the air temperature in the greenhouses peaked at 30C (86F). Root temperatures peaked at 4.30PM and were as below The observant will have noticed the extra thermometer . The addition is top right and is the half tray below. Having much less bulk than any of the other trays this one follows the air temperature much more closely. It heats up quicker, gets to higher temperature and the same applies to cooling. the minimum is lower than the others. NB that the max temp today is this tray and shows 28.2C (83F).

The temperature since my last post have remained fairly constant. Day root temperatures in the low 20sC and night temperature around 18C. The new half tray of course has varied an extra 2C above and below. We have now been promised a bit of a heatwave so we'll see what happens this weekend and the coming week. Temperatures today at 4pm were as shown. All plants are growing well and looking pretty good

Well the promised warmth is here. Overnight the root temperatures were at a low of 20C except for the half tray which fell to 17C. Daytime temperatures were high with a maximum air temperature of 36.5C (97.7F) in the greenhouses, unfortunately, for this purpose, I was out until 6PM so the root temperature record is at 1815 when temperatures were already dropping. The Mother colony is showing a high of 29.6C (85F), I suspect that the half tray has been higher than this but has lost heat faster. Tomorrow is promised to be at least as warm, watch this space

Another warm one, in fact warmer. Maximum greenhouse air temperature was 37.1C (98.8F) Overnight the minimum air temperature was 19.1C (66F) Minimum root temperature at 9am was as below So we have what recently were maximum daytime root temperatures at the start of the day. One sunny day later at 4pm The half tray reached 32.3C (90F) with the Mother colony at 29C (84F). Two hours later at 6pm The half tray temperature has dropped but all the other trays have continued to climb., the Mother colony being the highest of the others at 30.2C ( 86.4F) All plants are looking in good condition

July 8th A warm start, the overnight air minimum was 18.7C. The overnight root temperatures were quite high at 9am The morning was cloudy so no way the temperatures were going to reach the highs of the past two days. A sunny afternoon had air temperatures peaking at 31.2C (88F). Root temperatures peaked at around 6PM. I never saw the half tray temperature above that of the Mother colony which had a 3.6C advantage at the start of the day. 25.5C (78F) is therefore the day's max

July 9th Back to a cloudless day, just a little mist very early on. Overnight minimum air temperature a cooler 15.8C (60.4F) I'm getting trays peaking at different times so the photos are getting larger Maximum air temperature recorded at 36.1C (97F) The half tray peaked at 3.30PM @ 30.8C (87.4F) The Mother Colony at 6PM @ 28.4C (83F) The plants are not showing any stress.

July 12th Another hot sunny day. Minimum air temperature of 15C. Minimun root temperatures were 16C in the Half tray and the rest at 18C. Maximum air temperature was 32.9C (91F) in the top greenhouse. The air temperature seemed to stay up longer today. We're promised the years hottest so far this weekend so we'll see where that takes us.

July 13th A warm sunny start. Minimum air temperature 20.1C (68F). Minimum root temperature 20.5C (69F) in the half tray, the mother colony still up at 22.9C (73F). After a very sunny day the half tray peaked at 32.4C (90F) at 4pm. The larger trays continued to increase whilst the half tray lost a little heat, peaking at 6PM with the Mother colony @ 29.8C and the Junior colony @ 29.7 I think a tie at (85.5F) ;D is fair. farm4.staticflickr.com/3726/9275557399_8c78c352e1_o.jpg [/img] Maximum greenhouse air temperature recorded at 36.5C (98F).
