Cypripedium plectrochilum (The Spurred Lip Cypripedium - The Ram's Head Lady Slipper) is found in Southwestern China in coniferous or mixed forests, up to 2250 metres elevation, in semi-shade on stoney ground, often with limestone, as a small sized terrestrial that has a slender, erect stem carrying three lanceolate, veined leaves. It blooms in spring on a terminal pubescent single flowered inflorescence. It is hardy for me in the United Kingdom. Cypripedium plectrochilum

Very nice. But Europe has also a very nice one, C. calceolus. Well last year I went to see Cypripedium calceolus in the Lechtal not far from Vorderhornbach on the way to Martinau in Austria. Its a special ladyslipper reserve and the ranger told me that there are arround 4000 to 5000 Cypripedium calceolus in that area! Well I went there June 1, 2012 and they where at there best! Well if you want to see the European ladyslipper that the place to go to!

Odd place to talk about Cypripedium calceolus when the thread is about Cypripedium plectrochilum
