Anacamptis pyramidalis (The Pyramidal Orchid), is found as a small to medium sized deciduous terrestrial in grasslands, limestone, chalk deposits or in dune systems in Central and Southern Europe. As a British native it can be regarded as hardy. They are ususally found in full sun and have linear to oblong-lanceolate, acute, canaliculate leaves, blooming in summer on an up to 2ft (60 cm) long, erect, crowded, many flowered, pyramidal inflorescence with linear-lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts and many, colour variable, fragrant flowers with a musky odour. The scientific name Anacamptis derives from the Greek word meaning 'bend forward' ( the site doesn't accept Greek ) Anacamptis pyramidalisIt's amazing how that duck keeps gettig into the flowers
