So I finally took the plunge, and crossed a few Sarracenias and had very good luck on it. The seedlings that germinated in our greenhouse, in a seedling tray, now have their first round of "true" pitchers, and are just shy of an inch tall. I have not fertilized them, and I'm still on the fence on that one as, these were planted @ early to mid April, and I feel they are doing fine (SO FAR) without it. I am, however concerned with transplanting them - our weather here, now is 60 degrees at 10 AM on June 2nd - (highly unusual- our weather here is soooo off!). So when do you transplant, without fear of damaging such new roots? Also worried about a temp spike - you know unseasonably cool weather that stays and stays, and then "Boom!" weather is up to speed and it's 95 out! Help!

Last year I crossed 'Leah Wilkerson' with 'Night Sky' (both ways) and they are growing well in sphagnum but I'm going to leave them alone for a while.
Sounds like your seedlings are large enough to transplant-it's not too difficult in my experience, but I wouldn't do it if the temperatures are high and I was unable to control the temps (by bringing them inside under lights.) If it's cool then it should be a good time to transplant. I always transplant/divide my sarracenia in very early spring when growth is just appearing. Please share photos as you progress.

Thanks or the advice buckcity! I'll definitely be keeping an eye on them - our weather here right now is 59 degrees and raining! Way off - all of my fellow Californians are screaming for a refund on our spring weather (I know..boo hoo )! But within 3 days we're jumping up to 80, which will really oughta screw some plants up after weeks of this kind of weather, however, I digress... The crosses I made were: S.flava (A classic beauty of one) x S. flava 'Kimber Red Ruffles' S. flava 'Virginia' x S. purpurea venosa burkii luteola S. leucophylla 'Red' x S. oreophila 'Clone 4' So for now, I'll keep them under close watch! The crosses you made sound pretty spectacular as well, which brings me to.. How did you get a division of 'Leah Wilkerson'? I tried to contact Brooks Garcia, but to no avail. Is he out of commission?

That's who I got mine from ('Leah Wilkerson' .) Sometimes he takes a little while to answer.
Another source, occassionally, is eBay. I've noticed a few divisions available this year-but none currently. Will watch for 'Leah' and let you know if I find it.
By-the-way, 'Adrian Slack' recently sold on eBay for a small fortune but if the buyers had bothered to check California Carnivores it was for sale there for several months at a decent price. Really pays to shop around.
