Aidan,
Beautiful Sarracenia! You should do this for a living. ;D I am shocked that I can see no insects of any kind on any of your plants. Did your plants eat them all in the spring? If they were in growing Florida, even in a greenhouse or screened enclosure, at least one would have a fly, wasp or butterfly on and in it. If grown outside, they would be full to the top.
Take care, Steven Stewart

You should do this for a living. ;D I'll take that under advisement... I am shocked that I can see no insects of any kind on any of your plants. Did your plants eat them all in the spring? If they were in growing Florida, even in a greenhouse or screened enclosure, at least one would have a fly, wasp or butterfly on and in it. If grown outside, they would be full to the top. The polytunnel is actually buzzing with trapped insects at the moment, but there is such a concentration of plants in a relatively small area that no one plant is able to gorge itself on prey. Now... look closely at the second photo. See that green smudge resting on the the hood of the rubricorpora near the middle of frame. It's a fly! ;D

Adan,
I did see the fly on the rubricorpa after I posted the note! I now have to ask did you know it was there before I mentioned it or did you have to look? A kind of "find waldo" game. I think there is another insect on the last photo of S. minor second from the top on the right. ;D Perhaps a wasp. You can probably hear more trapped insects than you can see drinking nectar.
Take care, Steven Stewart

Good eyes Steve! Blurry close-ups, but then I wasn't focusing on the flies. The first I'd noticed when editing.

Aidan, As always, excellent plants and superb coloration! Have you noticed any early phyllodia beginning to peek out at you? Happy Growing, Brian.

I've not looked that closely as yet Brian. I'm still trying to kid myself that it's summer here... We had a miserable summer last year and this year has been only marginally better. Sunny enough for the plants to colour well though.
S. oreophila pitchers are now dying back rapidly and so I imagine there are phyllodia in there somewhere.

Thanks gunnar. They don't look much like that at the moment - all are currently frozen solid!
Lots more photos in my gallery. Just follow the link in my signature and come say hello.
