If those are your plants they look great and those amazing plant labels put my little crappy hand written labels to shame. If they aren't where can one go to see an exhibit like that?

Hey Steve,
Nice overflowing collection!
Do you grow Catopsis berteroniana?

Barry, I no longer grow Catopsis berteroniana. When I worked at a local college they had me work with native Florida plant species, and I started the branch of Bromeliads. The Catopsis shown on the branch were all started from seed. Brocchinia reducta is a much better house plant than C. berteroniana, as it tolerates and even multiplies in low light conditions. I have propagated many hundreds of C. b. from seed, in the manner shown below. I started with a single plant, and found it and it's offspring to be very capable of setting viable seed, by self pollinating the flowers. Please forgive the poor quality of the photographs. Take care, Steven Stewart

This epiphyte branch is still at Rollins College in their Greenhouse. They lost all of the Catopsis that were growing on it, but the photograph doesn't show the Orchid, Cactus and Fern side of the branch. They also have a small carnivorous plant collection at the greenhouse, but it helps to have some background with hybrids and species names that have become mixed up. They have a web page for a small sampling. Just Google Rollins College. Take care, Steven Stewart
