Greetings fellow CP Conservationists, Recently it seems, more CP habitats are being cleared, drained and sold as residential properties in Northern Florida, where some of the most diverse and concentrated CP environments in the world exist. Here's a disheartening picture from an area just outside of the Appalachicola State Forest in the Florida Panhandle... The land is being surveyed and evaluated for clearing. Note the Pinguicula lutea plants and flowers trampled by the heavy equipment;

Yes, there is.... Education and dedication....lead to conservation.
We can't stop people from selling land, but we can educate them on habitat destruction and the effect it has on the earth as a whole. Everything on this earth has a purpose. From the annoying mosquito buzzing your ear, to the curious vultures that circle overhead. If a plant is desirable and lovely in the public eye, we cut off it's sex organs and display them in vases as "flowers"
If a plant's flowers aren't that pretty or desirable, we call them "weeds" If you take one thing away for good, it doesn't leave just one empty space...It affects many, many others. Everything is here for a reason and works together as a whole. Happy Growing, Brian.
