Hello Jeff,
Nice plants! Do you ever notice ants in your plants? I am wondering how specific the co evolution is to these plants and certain species of ants?
Take care, Steven Stewart

no ant in these plant here in europe , she come from seeds .
to compensate the nitrogens products of the ant we use a standard fertilizer type NPK: 25-5-5 with thus a strong percentage of nitrogen
here we have a mutualist report/ratio not as on the carnivores or the report/ratio is rather antagonistic
for this coevolution we have here
plant towards the ant: food and protection (often of the nest) ant towards the plant: defense and product nitrogenized for fertilizer.
in these plant we have a lot of ant but that which one generally finds : iridomyrmex cordatus and scrutator .

Jeff,
Thank you!
I notice that Nepenthes bicalcarata does not share easily with our local ant genera! No mutualistic relationships that I have seen, just hungry plants and sacrificial ants. ;D
Take care, Steven Stewart

you know on nephentes bicalcarata the ants make there nest in the gimlet , they are very very little , nothing has to see with our large ant , like our in Europe . our ant of the north of planet also do not have the same concern, to my knowledge one in forever considering making their nests in antplants , even not also to come to seek the sugar of glands who are in the galleries of the caudex.
