Howdy! I am wondering if I can grow pygmy drosera outdoors here in Miami, Do any of you Florida guys grow them outside? If so, do you leave them outdoors all year, or do you bring them in at some point? Any info at all would be great!! Warmest Regards and Happy new years!! -Jc Miami, Fl

Hello JC,
I have seen some very nice pygmy Drosera growing in Brian's backyard. He gives them very little shade, and has some in a screened porch and a small greenhouse. I think some of them, D. scorpioides at least, has had some light frost, growing with his Sarracenia. Torrential rain would probably be the worst hazard for them outside. I'm sure Brian can elaborate on this topic more than I can.
Take care, Steve

Hey JC, Yes, you can grow pygmies outside year-round where you are. They are as tough as nails and will withstand all of the rigors of Florida weather... My mix; 3/4 sand 1/4 peat. Deeper pots are better. Keep soil wet but never waterlogged for long periods and never allow to go totally dry. This will make them go dormant. Full sun year round with light shading in the hottest months (June-August) and presto! Happy Growing, Brian.
