Ummm...I´m not sure where to post my ... erm... PROBLEM! I hope it´s not misplaced here.
Well, you think Christmas is a nice, relaxed time with finest food and drinks sitting in front of the television and watching stupid Christmas soaps? Even if you grow carnivorous plants??
I tell ya: NOT ME!
Here´s my carnivorous Christmas report:
My dear plants enthusiasts,
every year Christmas means for me a lot of work and stress! I mean...you know...I have the finest food and drinks for the holidays and all my plants which have been growing so well for me (more or less of course) have to watch me devouring myself fat and round? And I don´t share with them? I cannot be that mean, can I? So, I grant them some special snacks as well. The downside of this generosity is: If you have many many plants you spend at least a whole day cutting meat into pinhead sized pieces and feed them to your plants. I just need a short break now as I´m cutting and feeding since 7 am! (CET)
Yesterday morning I went to the butcher and asked the shop assistant which sort of meat she would recommend for my plants. She asked back if minced meat wouldn´t suit best. I replied to her: "My lady it´s Christmas! I can´t offer my plants such ordinary food, can I?" Finally we agreed on chopped beef. I wonder why that young girl was chuckling all the time! I guess she never had to care for carnivorous plants in all her life. Well, her laughing suddenly was gone when I asked if she would be so nice cutting the meat stripes into pinhead sized pieces! I argued to her she would be more trained in cutting meat than I am. She replied that she wasn´t fond of going mad and wished me a nice Christmas. Perhaps next year I´ll ask for minced meat....
I´m just happy that I don´t have any children additionally! Else I wouldn´t survive Christmas....
Oh, by the way, if you like to pamper your CPs like I do you should consider wearing gloves. These beasts can be really greedy when good meat is served.
I hope, you all have been much more relaxed than me.
See you later...maybe....
Regards,
Andreas
PS: Yes, I´m serious! It´s no fun what I´ve written down here!!!!
But, you know, in the end it does make you happy hearing 500 plants smacking contentedly.
