Nice collection. Is in every pot a different species or are you also trying different substrates? Best regards, Dani

Great looking tray you've got there Jeff, Congrats! What protocol did you use to germinate the seeds? I started quite a few different species from seed a couple weeks ago, we'll see how they look in a couple of months Warmest Regards and Happy growing, -Jc Miami, Fl

here 7-8 et 18-8-2008 brunonianum affine diuroides amoenum scandens adnatum junceum limbatum longitubum dichotomum bulbiferum candelabrum spinulosum 20-11 2007 diuroides albomontis brunonianum bulbiferum imbricatum macranthum graminifolium et un levenhookia chippendalei
different species in different box , just 1 substrat for instant blond peat -river sand 50/50
I use this protocol (from my south africa friend MARC) to the germination "I used only 1 smoke disk for 25 species of Stylidium. What I did is that I cut the smoke disk into little squares and placed each with a small amount of water in one little compartment of an ice-tray (only a few ml of water in each compartment). By ice-tray I mean that plastic thing that is put into the freezer to make ice blocks. Then the seed of each species was added, one species per compartment (so I needed 2 ice-trays for 25 species). The little blocks of smoke paper ended up being only about 1cm x 1.5cm, and this was still enough to stain the small amount of water a green colour. Half of the 25 species have aready germinated and some plants are quite big already. The guy in Australia who sold me the seeds was the one who suggested cutting the paper into little squares and using only a very small amount of water, and it seems to have worked well."
good growing

Thanks for the info Jeff, lots of good tips I could use for next time!
One last question, How wet did you keep the soil before they germinated? Did you keep them on a tray with water from day one? I planted 8 species but have been watering by hand - I have been thinking of putting the the pots on a shallow tray and keeping an inch of water in it, what do you think?

you used smoke disk ? it is necessary for the germination. for the germination when the seeds are OK , I sow directly on the wet substrate, I put a lid, and when the seedling have 2ou 3 leaves I remove the lid, after always in a wet substrate with between each watering one dry period . I have in swap if you want some seeds ( affine, brunonianum, plantigineum ,tenue, laricifolium macranthum, caricifolium, albomontis, amoenum diuroides , crassifolium) I sowed all these species , but some one do not grow
