Here's one for you Brian. It's a native of Florida. Platanthera clavelata in bud. This is the second year I've grown it. It seems to be quite happy with the pot sitting in a tray along with cps. Compost the usual well drained / water retentive mix. ( peat / perlite 2 : 1 ) It's also pretty well shaded, I have it under a bench. Single flower It's quite small and not showy but....... I like it ;D Approximately life size. Just to help your eyes. I hope you enjoy

Excellent orchid, Fred. The species is quite rare here in Florida, only existing in one of our northern-most counties. There's also a wonderful pale yellow form... Thanks for sharing! Brian.

I must be doing something right with this plant.
For 2009 it's sending up three shoots.
Compost is 2:1 peat/perlite with a top dressing of live sphagnum.
Watering is mainly from the top at this time of year and not allowing to dry out.
Later ( summer) it will sit in water along with the cps
