A lovely colourful Arisaema with the slight scent of violets. MrsG can't detect the scent but I suppose that's understandable after all the years she's spent next to me The flowers are variable in colour and form over its range. This particular clone has a very long spath tip. Its native habitat is woodland in China, Japan, eastern Himalayas and South America. Arisaema candidissimum

Lovely indeed. Am very envious of the plants you are able to grow. I wonder if I could cultivate them inside during the summer?
Do you grow A.sikokianum? Plants Delights in North Carolina has a variety called 'Silver Center' that is amazing.

Lovely indeed. Am very envious of the plants you are able to grow. I wonder if I could cultivate them inside during the summer? I take it that you don't have access to an outside shaded area to grow Arisaema. If you need to be inside under lights then try some of the smaller species like A. flavum and A. kiushianum[/b]. Do you grow A.sikokianum? Plants Delights in North Carolina has a variety called 'Silver Center' that is amazing. I recently acqured this one as part of an exchange deal ( one 4" pot of Pogonia ophioglossoides for over $160 of plants from the nursery ;D ) under the name Arisaema sikkokianum bicolorifolium. Unfortunately the flower has gone over so I'll not post until next year. I do note that the prices of Arisaema at the US nurseries is much higher than over here.

I've got woodland conditions and grow Arisaema dracontium-but so far my limited trials with other arisaema have ended in withering death (think it's the Florida heat.)
My A.dracontium blooms and goes to seed every year. I've even divided it. Last Arisaema I purchased was A. griffthii (R.I.P..) Yes, they are a little pricey and uncommon here.
