Pterostylis ( Diplodium) coccinea, an Australian Greenhood orchid. I grow this on the floor of an unheated lean-to greenhouse so it's pretty hardy. Compost 2 parts coarse gritty sand 1 part heat sterilised loam I part small pine chippings (I believe I added a further 1 part perlite to the bottom half of the compost in a long tom pot on this one) This is the start of the third year I've been growing it and the first time it's flowered. Care has to be taken when weeding the pots, you're more likely to weed out these as the leaves are not orchid like. It's a big ooops when you see the tuber on the bottom of the 'weed'. Fredddd! Interesting indeed! It looks like an Arisaema with antennae attachments. Did Mr Lowrie officially name this one? ;D ;D Very interesting plant.... Brian.
