Bletilla striata originates in Eastern Asia, Taiwan and adjacent islands, as a terrestrial, with plicate leaves and a distinct corm at the base of the stem. The flowers are showy and are on a terminal, racemose, few flowered inflorescence. This particular cultivar has white flowers with a light lilac on the frills and gold variegation on the leaves. Very easy to grow, often a garden plant in the UK

Hi Fred, Gorgeous flower! We have a rare S. Florida native orchid called Bletilla purpurea that is a dark lilac-purple flower and is quite lovely as well.... You have yourself a real "goodie" there! Brian.
