I hope, "Goliath" doesn´t mean the plant will flower itself to death! I bet Brian has contaminated the true P. moctezumae of your supplier with pollen of his B. "Goliath"... Friendly, Andreas

Hi Agoo, take a look at this thread -> floridacpsociety.proboards103.com/index.cgi?board=rainbow&action=display&thread=176 and you´ll understand what all our nasty hints mean! Wah...we are all such crazy, ironic suckers! Aren´t we? At least a few of us! ;D Don´t let yourself be confused by us, Agoo! I´m currently waiting for a bunch of flowers on my P. laueana. The offspring is already 7 years old and hasn´t flowered so far! It´s high time for these guys X( Kind regards, Andreas

Bonjour Jeff, I received the mother plant from Wistuba in 2000. It wasn´t already matured, but it took until 2005 to flower the first time! In 2001 I took winter leaves to propagate this species. It´s terribly slow growing but should now be in flowering size. Obviously this species only flowers when it´s older. My mother plant of Laueana flowered every spring since 2005. And last year it flowered even in our cool and rainy summer! Flower buds normally appear around beginning of February and open about 4 to 5 weeks later. It´s a pleasure they stay for 4 to 5 weeks as well. I have to admit my specimen is quite a bit strange! It wears its winter leaves for most of the year! *?* The sticky summer leaves sometimes only grow in late summer and autumn! :S Perhaps my climate is not what this species is used to in its home country. Ne pas désespérer de ses fleurs! *lol* I bet it´s not totally correct French! Salutations, Andreas

Jeff, Have you experimented with photoperiod and temperature? I have four of this species in flower now. They seem triggered by shorter photoperiod and cooler temps. Happy Growing, Brian.

My Mexican Pings experience a cool winter with reduced photoperiod. They stay also relatively dry. Photoperiod is decreased by half an hour every two weeks from September to December - which means from 13 hrs. to 9,5 hrs. From January photoperiod will be increased the reverse way until the plants are illuminated by 14 hours in June. Temperatures drop to values as deep as 5°C in winter nights but are usually at 10°C at night and a maximum of 16°C at daytime. If I don´t see flower buds on my P. laueana[/i] offspring soon I´ll threat them with "licking"! Best regards, Andreas
