I named this ping P.longifolia subsp longifolia f pinetensis .
the leaves from this form are allways dark red , the seedling show also this particularity , the caracter is peren.
I discovered this characteristic only on one quite precise population of a Spanish valley.

Hi Jeff,
are seedlings in cultivation also getting so deep red or is the substrate at this location the reason for this strong colouration? Have you tried growing them in different substrates?

on 8 years the adult have allways this dark red colour , my seedling also .
I cultivate this species ( but also all my others calcareous) allways in the same substrat. cat litier, calcareous sand , pouzzolane,vermiculite,river sand with a new add of akadama ( bonzaĆ® clay), I think nearest to that of 'in situ '.
and other friend E.PARTRAT cultivate this species with the same result
